Federation News

The Vadha Federation held a board meeting Saturday, August 2, 1997. at the home of Mayha Master Jack McCrave.  The Mayha Master and Masters Jack McCrave (Jr), Michael Wyka, Vincent McCrave, and Brian Wyka were present. Master Michael Manning attended the meeting via speakerphone.  Among other business attended to , the board streamlined the Vadha Code.  In addition, a new board of directors was constituted.  The three permanent members are Mayha Master Jack McCrave, Sixth Degree Master Jack McCrave (Jr), and Fifth Degree Master Michael Wyka.  The four temporary members are Second Degree Master Vincent McCrave, First Degree Masters Brian Wyka and Michael Manning,and new board member, Second Degree Master Chris Fedele.  Congratulations Master Fedele on your selection to The Vadha Federation's board of directors.

Grading

The evening of August 2, Master Michael Wyka held a grading for his students which was attended by the Mayha Master and instructors Jack McCrave (Jr), Vincent McCrave, and Brian Wyka.  After a series of physical and mental tests, and an evening of rather heavy sparring, Mark Wilson received a grade 3 yellow belt, Heather Dooley received a grade 5 green belt, and Wil Squire earned a grade 8 brown belt.  All of Master Wyka's students successfully performed the stiff arm exercise, and Wil Squire demonstrated the heavy body exercise as well.  The students were fortunate to receive a measure of instruction from the Mayha Master during the grading, and had a rare opportunity to spar with four different Vadha Instructors.  Masters Michael Wyka and Jack McCrave demonstrated the fourth level technique called "befuddlement" during sparring.  All in all, the grading was a rousing success with only one broken finger (compliments of Bill Covington!).

STATEN ISLAND GRADING

Master Chris Fedele has promoted three students to first degree black belt; Billy Peacock, Louis Argenzano, and Lee Sylvester.  Congratulations to Vadha's newest instructors!

REQUIEM EN PACEM

Vadha lost one of it's best last year.  Sixth Degree Vadha Master, David Anderson, passed away after a long illness, in the summer of '96.  A student of the Mayha Master from his Staten Island, Zen Combat Institute, Dave was known for his passion for Vadha.  The Mayha Master commonly referred to his student as "a Vadha purist."  High compliment indeed.  He will be missed by his students and fellow instructors.

THE VADHA CODE

In the first months on 1994, The Vadha Federation published the authoritative "Vadha Code", and established it's seven member Board of Directors.  As of today, the board stands as follows:

Chairman-Mayha Master Jack McCrave, Sr.;

Master Jack McCrave, Jr.;

Master Michael Wyka;

Master Vincent McCrave;

Master Chris Fedele;

Master Brian Wyka;

and Master Michael Manning.

For a copy of the Vadha Code-2nd edition, just write to The Vahda Federation's acting Secretary, Master Michael Wyka, at the above address & include $10 to cover the Code's cost and shipping.  Master Wyka is publishing the Code at his own expense, so please make any checks out to him personally.

SYNOD

The Vadha Federation is still seeking a host (or hosts) for it's first Vadha Synod.  This event will bring together Vadha students and instructors from all over, in an authoritative setting.  A series of seminars, training sessions, and gradings will be given by a variety of Vadha instructors.

The hosting of the Synod involves organizing dates, times, conference rooms, and hotel accommodations for the Synod attendees.  Although not an easy endeavor by any stretch of the imagination, it would truly be an honor for a Vadha instructor or school to host this event.  If you'd like to host the first Vadha Synod, please get in contact with The Vadha Federation, P.O. Box 190, Floral City, Fl 34436, or the Mayha Master directly.
